Swedish IPY Data Centre

 

The International Polar Year (IPY) is a large scientific programme focused on the Arctic and the Antarctic. In order to have full and equal coverage of both the Arctic and the Antarctic, IPY covers two full annual cycles from March 2007 to March 2009 and involves over 200 projects, with thousands of scientists from over 60 nations examining a wide range of physical, biological and social research topics.


SMHI has the responsibility to act as an ”IPY Data Repository” for Swedish IPY-projects. This means that metadata for all Swedish IPY-projects will be stored at SMHI and also that Swedish IPY-projects will have the possibility to store their data at SMHI.
